About this place
At lunchtime, Shogen Sushi’s sushi assortment pairs nigiri with soup. The menu lists a choice of red miso soup or clear soup, and diners have commented on the combination of sushi and fish-based clear soup, as well as the generous thickness of the fish. One diner described a different lunch featuring clear fish soup and ten pieces of sushi, each with a different topping. The assortment makes a convenient starting point for a meal that includes soup as well as sushi.
For more choice, the menu also lists medium and premium nigiri assortments. One lunchtime diner was surprised by the size of the aji (horse mackerel) ordered à la carte and also enjoyed the tekka-maki, a tuna roll. These individual dishes offer another way to round out an assortment of nigiri.
Beyond sushi, the menu includes chawanmushi (steamed savoury egg custard), tamago-maki, anago hako-zushi (boxed conger eel sushi) and battera (pressed mackerel sushi). Chirashi and a seasonal sashimi assortment are also available. There are lunch and dinner menus, and the restaurant offers both dine-in and takeaway.
